Viv Halton studied clarinet,
sax and piano at School in London and attended the Junior
Department of the Guildhall School of Music. She played bass
clarinet in the National Youth Wind Orchestra. Viv came to
Cambridge in 1988 to study music at CCAT and as well as her
degree holds a clarinet teaching diploma from Trinity College,
London, and a performance diploma in alto saxophone from the
London College of Music.
As well as
performing with Simply Reeds, she currently plays
clarinet in the Cambridge Orchestra and
bass clarinet in the Cambridge Philharmonic Orchestra. Viv
teaches at The Perse School, where she runs many clarinet and sax ensembles.
In 1995, she started conducting the newly formed Wind Band II at
The Perse and since 2000, she has been the School's Director of
Wind Bands, conducting both first and second Wind Bands. She
administers the recently-restarted K.239 Orchestra in Cambridge.

Graham Dolby came to Cambridge
in 1987 in order to study music at Cambridge College of Arts and
Technology (now Anglia Polytechnic University) - and stayed!
He studied flute, bassoon and
piano accompaniment and played sax in the college big band. As
well as his degree, he holds a teaching diploma from the
Guildhall School of Music.
He conducted
the Cambridge Youth Concert Band during 1992-2000 and he directs
and arranges music for ensembles/wind bands in the Cambridge
Schools, mainly at St Faith's School in which he teaches. Graham
was appointed principal bassoon in the Cambridge Philharmonic
Orchestra in 1993 but left in 1996 as Simply Reeds began
to take off. He is the first bassoonist in the Cambridge
Orchestra and in K.239 Orchestra, and has recently returned to
the Cambridge Phil to play 2nd Clarinet.
Since 2006,
Graham has directed the Sawston Village College wind band.
